Thesis & Dissertation

The library offers members and graduates of the HCU the opportunity to publish their own work on the repOS publication server free of charge and freely accessible worldwide in open access. You have the opportunity to publish research results quickly and easily and with a permanently citable URN or DOI. The publication server, often referred to as a repository, is suitable both for the first publication of dissertations or other scientific works at the HCU and for publications that have already been published elsewhere (secondary publication). The documents are permanently archived and listed in international catalogues and databases. HCU members can find further information on the use of repOS in the library section in HCU intern.

The HafenCity University 澳门现金网_澳门赌博现金网-官网 (HCU) explicitly motivates students to publish their very well graded theses online. For this purpose, the library provides a publication server on which students can publish their electronic theses free of charge. The electronic publication of your thesis offers you many advantages:

> Free and simple publication of your thesis
> Visualization of personal performance
> Your thesis will be reused and will not get dusty on the bookshelf
> Improved application chances
> Indexing of the work through library catalogues, search engines and databases
?

> Fill out the form Declaration of consent for adding and safeguarding of electronic thesis to the library and have your examiner sign it. Forward the signed form to the library. Please read the declaration of consent carefully.

> Upload your thesis with the corresponding metadata to the repOS publication server.

> The library checks the metadata for correctness and releases the document on the server after receiving the completed and signed declaration of consent from the supervisor.
?

You have the possibility to upload your thesis freely accessible. It is then made accessible via library catalogues, search engines and databases and can be viewed by everyone. You can also decide to allow access only within the campus. Your work will then only be accessible to HCU members.

The German Copyright Act (UrhG) applies without restriction to electronically published material. In particular: Individual reproductions, such as copies and printouts, may only be made for private and other personal use (§ 53 UrhG). The production and distribution of further reproductions is only permitted with the explicit consent of the author. Each user of the documents is responsible for compliance with the legal provisions and can be held liable in the event of misuse.

We inform about the copyright regulations for each document on our publication server.
?

Uploading a document to the library's publication server is irrevocable and cannot be withdrawn. Documents are only deleted in exceptional cases, for example if the publication violates criminal law.
?

According to the doctoral regulations and the implementation rules, the publication of a dissertation is part of the doctorate degree. After passing the oral exam, the dissertation must be available to the scientific public within one year.

The HCU Library supports you by providing the publication server repOS and advising you on the publication process. With repOS you have the opportunity to make your dissertation electronically available to others free of charge.
?

> Uncomplicated and free publication of your dissertation
> Rapid dissemination of your work and simplified access
> Support for the idea of open access - in other words, free access to scientific and scholarly information.
> Indexing of your work through library catalogues, search engines and databases
> Publication with a permanently citable internet address (DOI and/or URN)
?

1. Obtain the confirmation of compliance of the evaluated dissertation with the ready-for-publication version on the print approval routing slip (available from the Doctoral Examination Board Office) and submit it to the doctoral committee office. Email a copy of it to the library.

2. Download the contract for the publication of a digital dissertation. Please read the publication contract carefully and send it signed by e-mail to the library. You will receive a signed copy back from us also by e-mail.

3. Upload your dissertation with the corresponding metadata to the repOS publication server.

The library:
> checks the metadata for correctness
> activates the document on the server after receiving the contract for the publication of a digital dissertation.
> issues a publication certificate and sends it to the doctoral committee
> sends it to Doctoral Examination Board Office. The publication certificate is the basis for issuing the doctoral certificate.
